SOCIETY IS CHANGING.
PEOPLE ARE GETTING OLDER AND MORE MOBILE
The company Ossenberg GmbH, cibX GmbH and Deutsche Telekom AG have taken up this challenge and produced an innovation in the field of walking aids.
The networked walking stick SMARTSTICK.
The light and height-adjustable everyday help in carbon optics is not only an eye-catcher, but also scores with its integrated electronics. Features & Services
Walking aids are primarily used by people with impaired mobility to compensate for the reduced mobility of the elderly.
The ability of the lower limbs to work under pressure or as a coordination aid when standing or walking.
Thanks to the integrated locating and alarm module, our walking aids have even more potential for use.It doesn't matter what kind of walking aid you have.
All our functions can be used without restrictions.
As a partner of Deutsche Telekom, we rely on the specially developed portal of the largest German telecommunications provider. For you, this means: secure storage of your data on a German server under the German Data Protection Act. And a portal with a user-friendly and clear user interface that can be operated by anyone. Do you have doubts? Then give it a try right away.
Localization
A primary advantage of our products is the integrated GPS and the associated localization function. The stick or mobile unit records its position with an accuracy of up to 10 metres and transmits it to the connected portal. A quick glance at the map is enough to see the current position of the walking aid. Let us find you for your own safety - Europe-wide without additional costs!
Alarm
All our walking aids and mobile versions are equipped with a button. Among other things, this button indicates the functions, but also serves as an emergency call button. If you press the button for at least 3 seconds, an alarm message is automatically transmitted to the portal and the contact persons stored in the portal are informed within seconds. This function is possible worldwide* and is supported by a red LED and a beep.
*Additional fees may apply for use outside Europe!
Geo-Fence
The use of Geo-Fence immensely increases safe mobility in old age. With Geo-Fence it is possible to draw a virtual fence with a variable radius around the device. Especially for people with a running tendency, this function serves as additional security, since an alarm is automatically triggered when the area is exceeded and sent to the portal. Registered contact persons are informed immediately and can act directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
The SMARTSTICK walking stick concept consists of two aspects. On the one hand, we have the walking stick itself and, on the other hand, the portal on which settings are made via the Internet. An app for the SMARTSTICK is in preparation. The senior usually uses the SMARTSTICK and his contacts (family or other contacts) use the portal or the smartphone. The senior does not need a smartphone/computer/fixed telephone line to use the SMARTSTICK walking stick.
There is a chip in the walking stick which is connected via GPS.
You charge the walking stick with a USB cable, which you connect to a computer or to the charger for the socket.
Conditionally. The SMARTSTICK is splash-proof and can therefore be used in the rain without any problems.
In the SMARTSTICK there is an option built into the hardware which sends a warning if the wearer "gets lost". To do this, you can use the portal to specify how many metres the walking stick may move away from the house. As soon as it gets outside this radius, the Smartstick sounds the alarm and sends an e-mail to a contact person informing them of the position.
A third of all falls happen in the bathroom, mostly at night on the way to the toilet. Because of its simple function, the SMARTSTICK is also suitable for people who have forgotten their glasses in this situation, for example. The emergency call button on the walking stick is easy to feel and release. However, the SMARTSTICK is not so suitable for blind people, as there is currently no function for voice commands. You can't see the battery status, but of course you can trigger the emergency call.
The volume of the SMARTSTICK cannot be adjusted in case of an alarm. This means that the standard volume may not be clearly audible for everyone. Therefore, the wristband is probably not suitable for hearing impaired people, especially in noisy rooms or outdoors. However, visual perception can be sufficient.

The volume of the SMARTSTICK is currently preset.
The walking stick is offered at a recommended retail price of 395 Euro, which includes the European Roming fees for 2 years. There are no additional monthly costs!
- The use of the walking stick SMARTSTICK throughout Europe.
- A friendly service that will be happy to help you with any questions you may have.
No. The senior citizen does not pay any extra costs in an emergency.
In order to be able to use all functions without restrictions, sufficient mobile phone coverage is necessary. With the Deutsche Telekom AG network, you have the best coverage in Germany and Europe without additional costs (e.g. roaming charges).
Your SMARTSTICK has an IMEI number (see also the back of this manual). To activate the integrated SIM card, please call our hotline: 02571-95777-20. You will receive your user name and password when you activate the SIM card.
Press and hold the button for one second to switch it on. The button on the SMARTSTICK lights up blue and automatically connects to the portal. You switch off the stick by briefly pressing the button twice. The red LED lights up twice and the blue light goes out as soon as the software of the walking stick is shut down (approx. 1-5 seconds).
As long as the blue light is on, the SMARTSTICK is active and continuously updates the current position via GPS. The walking stick should be under the open sky to determine the exact position. In buildings there is usually limited GPS reception, so that the SMARTSTICK may only locate inaccurate or no position at all.
Press and hold the SMARTSTICK button for at least 5 seconds to raise a help call. The LED will then flash red rapidly for 10 seconds (100ms interval), a beep will sound and the help call will be transmitted to the portal at the same time. The family or other contact person will simultaneously receive a message on your smartphone via the help call.
The SMARTSTICK transmits the help call with the location of the cane to the portal. All family members or other contacts who have logged into the portal will receive a message with the exact location of the cane that the emergency button has been pressed.
No, not yet. The person who triggered the emergency call can inform the contact person that it is an accidentally triggered emergency call if possible, e.g. by telephone.
Usually yes. Sufficient mobile radio reception is required for SMARTSTICK to function properly. With the Deutsche Telekom AG network, you have the best coverage in Germany and Europe without additional costs (e.g. roaming charges). It works everywhere where there is a mobile network.
No, not at the moment. The notification will be sent by e-mail. The e-mail contains a direct link to the portal.
If you click on this link, you will receive a map with the current location of the floor.
If the battery level drops to approx. 20%, a warning message about a low battery level is transmitted to the portal. At the same time, the red LED of the SMARTSTICK starts to glow red permanently. If the battery level continues to fall until the battery is empty, a warning message is transmitted to the portal and the walking stick then switches off automatically.
During normal use, the battery lasts one week. This may be less if the battery is used intensively (e.g. if the location is frequently checked).
We strive to ship your SMARTSTICK on weekdays within 48 hours of receiving all necessary information.
